Als Impuls werden um 19 Uhr zunächst zwei „The Great Transformation“ Kurzfilme (auf EN) gezeigt. Danach folgen eine Diskussion (im Fishbowl Format) und Austausch mit lokalen EE Akteuren, Bürgerenergie-Pionieren und urbanen Solarausbau-Initiativen.

Das 2026 Earth Day Motto „Our Power, Our Planet“ versteht sich als ein Handlungsaufruf an uns alle. Denn Fortschritte im Umwelt- und Klimaschutz hängen nicht von einzelnen Regierungen oder Wahlen ab. Ende April findet in der kolumbianischen Hafenstadt Santa Marta die erste internationale Konferenz für einen Ausstieg aus fossilen Energien statt. Ziel der Konferenz ist es, einen konkreten Prozess in Gang zu setzen, durch den eine Koalition aus Vorreiter-Staaten, subnationalen Regierungen und relevanten Interessengruppen Wege aufzeigen und vorantreiben kann, die einen schrittweisen Ausstieg aus fossilen Brennstoffen ermöglichen und so zur Schaffung nachhaltiger Gesellschaften und Volkswirtschaften beitragen. https://transitionawayconference.com/
Die Stadt Bonn hat sich im Dezember 2021 als erste Stadt Deutschlands (2. in der EU nach Barcelona) der Fossil Fuel Treaty Initiative angeschlossen, nach einem Bürgerantrag, der von sechs Bonner Organisationen und Gruppen mitgetragen wurde: Extinction Rebellion, Fridays for Future, Germanwatch, Moratorium A565, Parents for Future und Psychologists/Psychotherapists for Future. Die Initiative zielt darauf ab, die Hauptursache von 80 % der CO2 Emissionen anzugehen, die für den Klimawandel verantwortlich sind: Kohle, Öl und Gas. Bonn ist Sitz des UN Klimasekretariats (UNFCCC). Der Bonner Stadtrat unterstrich mit dem Votum das städtische Ziel, bis 2035 klimaneutral zu werden – im Einklang mit dem 1,5-Grad-Ziel des Pariser Abkommens. Die globale Fossil Fuel Treaty Initiative betont die Notwendigkeit internationaler Zusammenarbeit, um einen gerechten Übergang von fossilen zu erneuerbaren Energien zu unterstützen.

GreenDrinks Bonn invites you to a special Earth Day get-together at Klimaviertel Beuel. Together, we’d like to explore what it will take to successfully transition to a renewable energy system and a livable fossil-free future—both locally and globally. The event will be held in English and German and is specifically aimed at Bonn’s international community.
To kick things off, two “The Great Transformation” short films will be shown at 7 p.m. as an inspiration. This will be followed by a discussion (in a fishbowl format) and an exchange with local renewable energy stakeholders, community energy pioneers, and urban solar expansion initiatives.
Background:
The 2026 Earth Day theme, “Our Power, Our Planet”, is a call to action to all of us and reflecting a fundamental truth: progress in environmental and climate protection does not depend on any single administration or election. It’s sustained by daily actions of communities, educators, workers, and families protecting where they live and work. https://www.earthday.org
The first international conference on phasing out fossil fuels will take place in late April in the Colombian port city of Santa Marta. Co-hosted by Columbia and the Netherlands, the conference aims to initiate a concrete process through which a coalition of committed nations, subnational governments, and relevant stakeholders can identify and advance enabling pathways to implement a progressive transition away from fossil fuels creating sustainable societies and economies. https://transitionawayconference.com
In late 2021, Bonn became the first city in Germany (second in the EU after Barcelona) to join the Fossil Fuel Treaty initiative, following a citizen-initiated motion that was supported by six Bonn-based organizations and climate groups: Extinction Rebellion, Fridays for Future, Germanwatch, Moratorium A565, Parents for Future, and Psychologists/Psychotherapists for Future.
The global initiative aims to address the source of 80% of the CO2 emissions that cause climate change: fossil fuels. Bonn is the host city of the UN Climate Secretariat (UNFCCC). With its endorsement, the City Council underscored the city’s goal of being climate-neutral by 2035—in line with the 1.5-degree target of the Paris Agreement. The Fossil Fuel Treaty Initiative emphasizes the need for international cooperation to advance a just transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy.
