Kreatives Fest zum globalen Arts for the Future Festival am Bonner Bogen

Lokale Künstler:innen und Klimanetz-Gruppen laden zum Auftakt des globalen Arts for the Future Festivals zu einem kreativen Freiluft-Get-Together ein mit Live-Musik, künstlerischen Impulsen, internationalen Gästen und familienfreundlichen Aktivitäten unter dem Motto "Make Peace with Nature".

Wir feiern das Fest an der Uferpromenade bei der Mother Earth Skulptur, die 2020 am Bonner Bogen (vor der Rohmühle) errichtet wurde als ein Symbol für Nachhaltigkeit und unsere gemeinsame Sorge für die Mutter Erde und die Zukunft künftiger Generationen.

Das Arts for the Future Festival findet rund um den Globus statt, flankierend zum UN Zukunftsgipfel in New York (22./23.09), der von Deutschland zusammen mit Namibia ausgerichtet wird. Die Idee zu dem Festival wurde im Mai bei der UN-Zivilgesellschaft Konferenz in Nairobi geboren.

Öl, Gas und Kohle sind die Hauptursache für die Klimakrise und das größte Hindernis für eine nachhaltige, lebenswerte und gerechte Zukunft. Fossile Brennstoffe untergraben alle 17 UN Nachhaltigkeitsziele (SDGs). Sie schüren globale Konflikte und beeinträchtigen unsere Gesundheit, Sicherheit und Lebensgrundlagen.

Mit der lokalen Artivismus Aktion möchten wir gemeinsam ein Zeichen setzen für einen internationalen Nichtverbreitungsvertrag für fossile Brennstoffe und unsere Stimmen erheben gegen den Ausbau von Umwelt zerstörenden Öl- und Gasexplorationen – insbesondere die geplante Öl- und Gasförderung von Recon Africa in Namibia flussaufwärts des Okavango-Deltas, das ein äußerst artenreiches Ökosystem und UNESCO Weltnaturerbe ist.

Die Initiative für einen Nichtverbreitungsvertrag für fossile Brennstoffe ist ein globales Bemühen zur Förderung der internationalen Zusammenarbeit, um den Übergang zu erneuerbarer Energie für alle zu beschleunigen. Bonn hat sich 2021 als erste deutsche Stadt der globalen Initiative für einen fossilen Nichtverbreitungsvertrag angeschlossen.

Local artists and climate network groups invite you to a creative open-air get-together with live music, artistic impulses, international speakers and family-friendly activities under the theme ‘Make Peace with Nature’.

We celebrate the kick-off of the first global Arts for the Future Festival on the riverside promenade at the Mother Earth sculpture, which was installed at Bonner Bogen in 2020 (in front of the Rohmühle) as a symbol of sustainability and our shared responsibility to care for Mother Earth and our common future.

The Arts for the Future Festival takes place around the globe in support of the UN Summit of the Future Summit in New York (Sept. 22/23), which is co-facilitated by Germany and Namibia. The idea for the festival was born in May at the UN Civil Society Conference in Nairobi.

Oil, gas and coal are the root cause of the climate crisis and the biggest obstacle to a sustainable, prosperous and just future. Fossil Fuels undermine all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), from fueling conflicts globally to compromising health, security, and livelihoods.

Through this Artivism Action, we want to join the global call for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty and raise our voices against the natural habitat destroying expansion of oil and gas explorations – in particular the planned oil and gas drilling by Recon Africa in Namibia upstream of the Okavango Delta, which is a recognized biodiversity hotspot and UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative is a global effort to foster international cooperation to accelerate a transition to renewable energy for everyone. In 2021, Bonn became the first German city to endorse the global initiative for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty.

About: The "Arts for the Future" Festival is dedicated to amplifying the voices of artists and cultural workers in global sustainability discussions. Taking place from September 13-29, 2024, this hybrid festival aligns with the UN Summit of the Future, Climate Week NYC, and the UN General Assembly, providing a platform for creative expression and impactful dialogue with and for artists and cultural workers.
