Anlässlich des globalen #ARTSforthefuture Festivals und der Bonner SDG-Tage und Friedenstage lädt die Bonnections Initiative mit lokalen Klimanetz-Gruppen zu einer #EndFossilFuels Ausstellung und einem kreativen Austausch (23.-29. Sept.) unter dem Motto “Make Peace with Nature” ein. Die Ausstellung zeigt eine Auswahl von Artivismus-Plakaten und Klima-Kunst von Künstler:innen rund um den Globus.

Bei der Vernissage am 23. Sept. werden zudem 1-minütige “Making Peace with Nature” Videos von internationalen Filmemacher:innen und weitere Kurzfilme zu sehen sein. Als künstlerischen Impuls für eine interaktive "Palaver Tree” Runde werden auch einige Gedichte von Kole Odutola und Valentine Onyeka Ogunaka vortragen, zwei nigerianische Dichter, Umweltaktivisten und “Media for Development” Experten.
Außerdem wollen wir ein kollaboratives Kunstprojekt vorstellen von vier namibischen und deutschen Künstler:innen anlässlich des UN Zukunftsgipfel (22./23. Sept.) in New York. Diese sind Corinna Heumann (Bonn), Ina-Maria Shikongo (Windhoek), Chama Chakanga (Windhoek) und Sven Liesy (Hannover). In dem Projekt werden sie jeweils einen “Parachute for the Planet” mit einem Tiermotiv gestalten.
Damit möchten sie gemeinsam ein künstlerisches Zeichen setzen für einen internationalen Nichtverbreitungsvertrag für fossile Brennstoffe und gegen den Ausbau von Umwelt zerstörenden Öl- und Gasexplorationen – insbesondere die geplante Öl- und Gasförderung des kanadischen Konzerns Recon Africa in Namibia und Botswana flussaufwärts des Okavango-Deltas, das ein äußerst artenreiches Ökosystem und UNESCO Weltnaturerbe ist.
Öl, Gas und Kohle sind die Hauptursache für die Klimakrise und das größte Hindernis für eine nachhaltige, lebenswerte und gerechte Zukunft. Fossile Brennstoffe schüren globale Konflikte, beeinträchtigen unsere Gesundheit, Sicherheit und Lebensgrundlagen und untergraben alle 17 UN Nachhaltigkeitsziele (SDGs).
Das erste Arts for the Future Festival findet rund um den Globus statt (13.-29.09.), flankierend zum UN Zukunftsgipfel während der UN-Generalversammlung in New York. Die Idee zu dem Festival wurde im Mai bei der UN-Zivilgesellschaft Konferenz in Nairobi geboren.

On the occasion of the global Arts for the Future Festival and the Bonn SDG Days and Peace Days, we invite you to an #EndFossilFuels exhibition and creative exchange (23-29 Sept.) under the theme ‘‘Make Peace with Nature’ at the Vacancy as an Encounter Space.
The exhibition shows a selection of artivism posters and climate art by artists from around the world. At the vernissage, we will also screen 1-minute ‘Making Peace with Nature’ videos by international filmmakers and other short films. https://www.mobilefilmfestival.com/en/palmares
Some poems by Kole Odutola and Valentine Onyeka Ogunaka, two Nigerian poets, environmental activists and ‘Media for Development’ experts, will be recited as well as an artistic impulse for an interactive ‘Palaver Tree’ discussion.
We will also present a collaborative art project by four Namibian and German artists for the UN Summit of the Future (22/23 Sept.) in New York, which is co-facilitated by Germany and Namibia. The artists are Corinna Heumann (Bonn), Ina-Maria Shikongo (Windhoek), Chama Chakanga (Windhoek) and Sven Liesy (Hannover). In the project, they will each design a ‘Parachute for the Planet’ with an animal motif.
Through this Artivism Action, they want to join the global call for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty and raise their voices against the natural habitat destroying expansion of oil and gas explorations – in particular the planned oil and gas drilling by Recon Africa in Namibia and Botswana upstream of the Okavango Delta, which is a recognized biodiversity hotspot and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Oil, gas and coal are the root cause of the climate crisis and the biggest obstacle to a sustainable, prosperous and just future. Fossil Fuels undermine all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), from fueling conflicts globally to compromising health, security, and livelihoods.
The inaugural Arts for the Future Festival takes place around the globe (Sept. 13-29) surrounding the UN Summit of the Future Summit in New York. The idea for the festival was born in May at the UN Civil Society Conference in Nairobi.

Mehrere tausend Bonner*innen sind am 2.2.2025 für eine gerechte und menschliche Zukunft auf die Straße gegangen. Genau darum geht es auch beim Klimastreik am 14. Februar.
